Poor Soul

Christian Paintings and Pictures

This poor soul, or wretch, wanders around hopelessly lost with no escape, forever separated from God. But there can be a happy ending. For example, in John Newton’s well-known hymn, he offers a future and a hope to beleaguered souls who are still among the living. Like himself, they too can be rescued from such a direful doom by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ:

Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see.

“I will help thee, saith the Lord” – Isaiah 41:14
“I will never leave you nor forsake you” – Hebrews 13:5
